When creating a new project or milestone, you can save time by selecting a template from a list of available templates in the system.

A template provides the basic framework of a project or milestone that was previously used in the system or from a project that was imported from MS-Project. All fields and data are maintained when a project/milestone is saved as a template.

The Templates subsystem allows you to navigate and update the list of project/milestone templates that have been saved to the database.

How to Save a Template

Templates can be created within the Current Project and Work Items screens by right clicking on either a Project or Milestone and selecting the "Save as Template" option from the right click menu.

Once a Project or Milestone is saved as a template it will be displayed in the Templates tab.

Selecting a Template Project

When Creating a New Project you have the ability to create a blank project, or a project from a template.

Selecting to create a project from a Template will open up a pop up window that will display all project template options.

Selecting a Template Milestone

When adding a Milestone to a project from within the Current Project screen, you can select to add a blank milestone, or a template milestone.

Selecting to add a Template Milestone will open up a pop up window that will display all milestone template options, and will allow you to select what elements of the milestone you would like to include.

You will then be required to fill in the milestone details, including the milestone name and description.

Once you click finish the milestone will be added to your project.

Updating the Template Profile Card

The Template profile card can be accessed by either double clicking on the Template icon, or by right clicking on the template and selecting the "Properties" option from the menu.

The Profile Card includes details about the project, including the description, category, and any recommendations.

All templates can be marked as private from within the Template Profile Card.

Setting a Project Template as Default

A default project option is available when Creating a New Project. To set a specific project as the default organizational project, highlight the desired project and click on the "Set as Default" option from within the Template toolbar.

Editing a Template

To edit a template, you must create a new project and choose the third option, "Create Project from template," and select the template you want to edit. Once you finish creating the project, you can make the necessary changes on this newly created project. Now, you can re-save this project as a template.
