Adding a Dependency
From Clarizen
The Add Dependency dialog enables you to create dependencies between a selected work item and other work items within the project.
Adding a dependency between work items will automatically change the start or finish date of the successor work item.
If you want to link work items from other projects you need to look at Shortcuts
Note: Dates that are manually set will not be overridden when creating dependencies.

Dependency Types
Clarizen allows you to select from four schedule dependency types. These include:
- Finish to Start (FtS)
- The successor work item begins upon completion of the predecessor work item
- Finish to Finish (FtF)
- Predecessor work item does not finish until the successor is finished
- Start to Finish (StF)
- The successor work item does not finish until the predecessor starts
- Start to Start (StS)
- The successor work item does not start before the predecessor starts
How To Add a Dependency
Dependencies can be added to projects by selecting either a single or multiple dependencies and then clicking on the "Add Dependency" icon
within the Current Project toolbar or the Info Bar.
Note: Clicking CTRL+F2 on your keyboard will also open up the Add Dependency dialog window
Single Work Item Selection
Selecting a single work item and clicking on the "Add Dependency" icon will open up the Add Dependency dialog window, where you can then select one or more work items to create dependencies on.
To select multiple work items within the grid, highlight the relevant work items by holding the CTRL key on your keyboard and selecting the work items with your mouse.
Once all relevant work items are selected, choose the dependency type.
You can then add a "Lag" between predecessor and successor work items.
To restore all manually set dates within the selected work items, and thereby allow the automatic date changes based on the dependency type, check off the "restore" check box.
Once you have completed click "Save".
The
icon in the "Dependency" field represent successor work items.
Multiple Work Item Selection
When creating a dependency off of two selected work items, the above dialog is displayed.
Within the dialog you can select which of the two work items will be the predecessor work item, or, what work item depends on the other.
You can then select the dependency type, and enter the lag if relevant.
To restore all manually set dates within the selected work items, and thereby allow the automatic date changes based on the dependency type, check off the "restore" check box.
Note: When selecting more than two work items, the Add Dependency dialog will not ask for the predecessor work item, but rather assumes that the predecessor was the first work item selected.
Removing Dependencies
To remove a dependency from a single, or multiple, work item(s) simply select the work item(s) of interest and then click on the "Remove Dependency" icon
.
